Understanding the 22395 Short Code: Its Purpose and Benefits

10DLC stands for 10-digit Long Code. It’s a type of phone number that contains 10 digits, just like a regular landline or cell phone number. 10DLC numbers are also known as local phone numbers because they are typically assigned to a specific geographic area.

When you buy a US phone number, 10DLC numbers are the type of number that you will receive by default. 10DLC numbers are also sometimes referred to as 10DLC routes.

10DLC, the new industry-led extended code solution for North American application-to-person (A2P) business messaging, is replacing the traditional long code system. While businesses may be familiar with using long codes for text messaging, 10DLC introduces new regulations to protect customers from spam and enhance their texting experience.

10DLC Compliance for Businesses of All Sizes

To comply with 10DLC regulations, businesses must register with The Campaign Registry, the central 10DLC database, if they use more than five phone numbers for SMS messaging or send more than 3,000 messages daily. Companies using wireless carriers must also follow their specific regulations. Companies with multiple brands must register for each one and create an individual campaign type detailing its purpose and name.

What’s the need for A2P 10DLC?

10-digit long code (10DLC) numbers in the US were originally designed for person-to-person (P2P) communication. It means they were meant for people to send text messages to each other rather than for businesses to send text messages to their customers. In recent years, there has been a rise in spam and unsolicited text messages sent from 10DLC numbers. It has led to a decline in consumer trust in SMS messaging.

US carriers have implemented a new standard called A2P 10DLC to address this issue. A2P 10DLC is a way to regulate A2P (application-to-person) messaging and ensure consumers have a better experience.

Who should register for A2P 10DLC?

It is necessary to complete registration for A2P 10DLC to send SMS/MMS messages via a 10DLC number from an application to the US. This registration requirement applies to all SMS traffic originating from Power Textor considered sent from an application. It includes organizations, individuals, students, and hobbyists using Power Textor.

Why 10DLC Compliance Matters for Your Business

1. Enhanced Deliverability

Ensuring 10DLC compliance significantly improves the deliverability of your business text messages. Carriers recognize compliant messages as legitimate, reducing the likelihood of them being filtered as spam. It means your essential communications reach your audience promptly and reliably, fostering stronger customer connections.

2. Building Trust with Customers

In the competitive landscape of business messaging, trust is crucial. 10DLC compliance adds an extra layer of authenticity to your messages. It reassures customers that your communications are legitimate and from a verified source. This trust-building element is key to engaging customers and maintaining a positive brand reputation.

3. Avoiding Penalties and Downtime

Non-compliance with 10DLC regulations can lead to penalties and disruptions in your messaging channels. By adhering to these standards, businesses of all sizes can avoid potential financial penalties and the inconvenience of message filtering. Staying compliant ensures smooth communication, allowing you to focus on building relationships rather than dealing with regulatory issues.

4. Increased Message Throughput

10DLC compliance allows businesses to send more messages per second, enhancing message throughput. It is particularly beneficial for large enterprises with substantial communication needs. The ability to efficiently send messages at scale ensures that your communication strategy remains robust and responsive to your growing business demands.

5. Cost-Effective Messaging

Compliance with 10DLC can lead to more cost-effective messaging for businesses. Adhering to the regulations prevents potential penalties and ensures your messages are delivered efficiently. It saves on costs associated with non-compliance and optimizes your messaging budget for more impactful communication strategies.

6. Regulatory Future-Proofing

As technology and communication regulations evolve, 10DLC compliance positions your business for the future. Your messaging strategies are future-proofed once you adapt to these standards. This proactive approach keeps your business agile despite regulatory changes. It also maintains a competitive edge in the North American business landscape.
